Introduction Statements:
For as long as I can remember, I have had the desire to become a teacher. Throughout my college experiences and education courses my desire to teach was made even stronger. Upon completion of my student teaching, education courses, and graduation, I was excited to start my life as a teacher.
My first year out of college, I accepted a position as long-term physical education substitute in an elementary school. This position lasted for 3 months in which I took over the role and responsibilities of the physical educator. This experience was a great way to start my career because I was working with a wonderful team of educators from whom I learned a great deal about being an effective teacher at the elementary level. I then accepted a high school long-term substituting position, again teaching physical education. This position last for the remainder of the school year (6 months) and allowed me to learn about teaching physical education on a different level. This year only confirmed that I wanted to spend my life teaching and influencing the lives of children.
The following year, physical education positions were few and far between so I accepted the offer to serve as a long term high school building substitute. During this experience I had the opportunity to be in several different education settings, work with every student in the school, and observe many different teaching/class management techniques that the teachers applied in their classrooms. This position strengthened my skills, as a teacher and leader in the classroom and gave me the opportunity to learn and practice different class management strategies.
In the fall, I will be starting the third year of my full-time high school physical education position. The first 2 years of the position have been tremendous. I am privileged because I am doing something I absolutely love to do in a great school, with a great group of students. All of my teaching experiences up to this point have been very positive. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to work with and influence the lives of my students. My goal as a teacher is to help guide my students to success so they are excited grow and learn and become contributing members to our society.
I believe that success comes from learning. My desire is to be as successful as I can be as an educator. In order to be the best that I can be, I need to continue learning new and exciting ways to can enhance the learning of my students and become a more effective teacher. I want to be able to offer my students all that I possibly can, and in order to give them my best, I need to keep learning and striving to be my best. Successful people spend their lives learning, and in order to reach my goal of being a successful educator, I want to keep learning through education and experience.
I am excited to have been apart of the distance learning program at the University of New England. I work very hard to stay organized and disciplined in my every day tasks. I feel as though being apart of this program, gave me the opportunity to practice my self discipline and become even better at organizing and managing my daily tasks. I have grown and learned so much through this great experience. I am excited to apply all that I have learned as I continue to teach.
As I stated before, I look at my life as an opportunity to continue learning everyday. My goal is to continue learning to be an effective teacher and role model. I would like to pursue a degree in education administration so I can use the skills and techniques learned to impact the lives of students for the rest of my career in education.
